Sidefest Returns: Three Nights of Chaos, Community and WA Music Glory

If you know, you know. If you don’t, you should.

Every city’s got a festival that feels like theirs. For Perth, it’s Sidefest - a weekend where 40+ of the best punk, indie and alt-rock bands from across the country cram into the Rosemount Hotel for three nights of energy, sweat, and friendship.

Curated by hometown heroes Sly Withers and presented by triple j, Sidequest, and Select Music, Sidefest isn’t a corporate mega-festival. It’s a grassroots showcase that feels like a family reunion - one built on the idea that WA deserves a spotlight on the national stage, and that “rising tides lift all boats.”

From Friday 21 to Sunday 23 November, Sidefest takes over every corner of The Rosemount Hotel - the Main Room, four5nine, and The Backyard - for a full-venue party that’s as local as it is world-class.

It’s a space where Perth bands share the bill with national heavy-hitters, and fans spill between rooms discovering their new favourite act by accident. The vibes range from the loud & sweaty, to the chill and friendly - it’s the best house party you’ve ever been to, in the best live music venue in Perth.

The Line-up

Friday 21 November sets the tone with pop-punk powerhouse Stand Atlantic, joined by Dear Seattle, Late 90s, RinRin and local risers Shorehaven in the Main Room. Over in four5nine, things go full tilt with Lazer Gator, Good Grief, Ursula, Elton John Cena and Colourblind, while Sidequest Bros, Sly Withers DJs and DJ Vronk take the decks in The Backyard until close.

Saturday 22 November brings Sly Withers’ only Perth show of the season, backed by The Beefs, ULLAH, Bakers Eddy and Blush on the Main Stage. four5nine stacks the bill with The Points, Ratsalad, Increment, Hey So Hungry and Edie, while Death by Denim DJs, Kayps b2b YNGRACH and Blue Grey Pink DJs turn the Backyard into a wall-to-wall dance floor.

Sunday 23 November closes with Stella Donnelly in her only WA show of the year, alongside Day We Ran, smol fish, Rapid and Siena Rebelo on the Main Stage. four5nine wraps up with Mal de Mer, Airline Food, Lachy John and the Red Bellies, Odlaw and Parclo, and The Backyard turns all-ages with unplugged sets from Birdland, Rosalie Chilvers and Sly Withers — open to U18s with a parent or guardian.

Why It’s Special

Sidefest’s strength has always been its community. It’s built by artists, for artists - with Sly Withers’ own team, Sidequest, pulling it together alongside some of the best in the business.

This year marks a major step up, too - triple j joins as a presenting partner, helping to put Perth’s scene in front of national eyes. Add AUSLAN interpreters, accessibility upgrades, and a lower-sensory zone, and it’s clear that Sidefest isn’t just back — it’s growing with purpose.
